Jason recently celebrated his 15-year work anniversary at the HR Smith Group. He started at Chunc in 2014 as a Production Operative and progressed to become a Production Technician. In a Q&A session, he shares insights into his role:
Q: What attracted you to joining Chunc?
Jason: “Being part of a long-established family-run business like HR Smith Group and Chunc gives me a sense of belonging and reassurance. I was drawn to the opportunity to directly contribute to improving postural support outcomes for our customers. Starting as a Production Operative allowed me to work hands-on in assembling various products, making a real difference in people’s lives.”
Q: What are your primary roles and responsibilities?
Jason: “My main responsibility involves assembling wheelchairs and outdoor activity chairs as prescribed by our seating specialists. I work closely with our production and sales administration team to ensure timely and accurate chair builds. Ranging from the common to the complex, we provide modifications tailored to support a wide range of postural management needs. This can involve anything from weight-bearing padded footboxes, designing unique colour combinations to custom cut-to-shape cushion fabrics, addressing leg length discrepancies and amputee support.”
Q: Tell us a bit more about yourself and your hobbies
Jason: “I take pride in being a family man, cherishing my life with my wife and two children. I’m a passionate supporter of Newcastle FC. I enjoy activities like decorating, DIY, and attending events such as concerts and cinema outings with my family. Recently, we had a great time watching Madonna – the Queen of Pop!”
