Case Study – Kian
Finding Comfort, Confidence, and the Right Fit for Kian
Meet Kian
For five years, Kian had been using a wheelchair that provided essential support, but it wasn’t the right fit for him or his family.
His mum found it heavy and difficult to manoeuvre, making everyday life more challenging than it needed to be. More importantly, Kian was never fully comfortable or relaxed. At one point, prolonged use even led to a pressure sore.
It was clear that something needed to change.
Discovering Something Different
Following surgery, Kian was referred for a rental Spica chair to support his recovery. Until then, the family had never heard of Chunc.
The difference was immediate.
The chair was lighter and much easier to handle, giving Kian’s mum greater confidence when getting out and about. The larger wheels made manoeuvring simpler, but the biggest change was in Kian himself.
For the first time, he looked truly comfortable – settled, supported, and at ease.

A clear decision
Before this experience, the family hadn’t known what type of wheelchair would best meet Kian’s needs. They also had concerns about the safety and security of his previous setup.
After seeing the impact of the Spica during his recovery, their decision became clear. With Personal Wheelchair Budget (PWB) funding secured, they chose to invest in a permanent, full-time Chunc wheelchair for Kian.
the assessment
When it came to Kian’s assessment, our team brought a demo Chunc One to ensure his new chair could be tailored precisely to him.
At first, Kian’s mum was unsure; the chair looked too big.
But once the adjustments were made, everything changed.
With the chair fitted correctly to his posture and needs, Kian’s response was immediate. He was happier, more relaxed, and content to stay seated – something he had struggled with before, often preferring to lie down instead.

The outcome
Kian’s new chair has made a meaningful difference to everyday life.
– A lighter, more practical solution for daily use
– Easier manoeuvrability for his family
– Improved comfort and postural support
– Greater confidence in safety and positioning
– But most importantly, Kian is now settled, supported, and comfortable.
more than just a chair
For Kian and his mum, this wasn’t just about replacing a wheelchair. It was about finding the right fit. One that supports not just posture, but comfort, confidence, and quality of life.
