Meet Lilac
Lilac, also known as “Lilac’s Little Legs” and now a Chunc ambassador, began her journey with a face-to-face assessment carried out by one of our Seating Specialists. The aim of this visit was to understand Lilac’s postural requirements and determine how a custom made Hilo outdoor activity chair could support her in everyday life.
Using a demo chair, we carefully took a full set of measurements. These dimensions are essential for creating a fully customised seating system, ensuring the chair would provide the right level of support, comfort and positioning for Lilac. During the assessment, we also demonstrated the Hilo chair’s features and how it could be used for outdoor activities, school participation and time at home.
Choosing a personal finish
With the technical details complete, it was time for Lilac to make the most important decision – the colour. After looking through a selection of upholstery swatches, she chose a stylish pink finish, later paired with black fabric to create a chair that felt personal and unique.
Built in house for a perfect fit
Following the assessment, Lilac’s chair moved into production at our Hereford factory. Like all Chunc chairs, the Hilo was manufactured in-house and built around Lilac’s exact measurements.
The result was a fully custom made seating system designed specifically to meet her postural needs. Every element of the chair was carefully configured to ensure she would be well supported while enjoying a wide range of activities.
Delivery and handover
Once the chair was complete, we returned to hand over Lilac’s Hilo activity chair just before the bank holiday break. During the handover, Lilac and her family were guided through the chair’s key features and adjustments, ensuring everything was set up correctly.
Final tweaks were made to optimise comfort, positioning and ease of use, giving Lilac the confidence to start using her new chair straight away.
The outcome
Lilac’s custom Hilo outdoor activity chair combines supportive postural seating with a fun, personalised design in pink and black. With a chair tailored specifically to her needs, she now has greater comfort, improved positioning, and the freedom to take part in even more activities, whether learning at school, spending time at home, or enjoying the great outdoors.
