Meet Paige
Born prematurely and diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Paige is a vibrant and determined young woman who approaches life with optimism and confidence.
During her secondary school years, Paige experienced a significant change in her spinal curvature, which progressed from an S-shaped curve to a C-shaped curve. As her postural needs evolved, finding a seating solution that could provide the right levels of support, comfort and adaptability became increasingly important.
Finding the right solution
Paige and her family first discovered Chunc at the Kidz to Adultz Middle exhibition in Coventry. Having explored a range of seating options previously, they were looking for a chair that could meet Paige’s changing needs without compromising on comfort or appearance.
The Hilo Activity Chair immediately stood out. Its supportive seating system, generous cushioning and modern design offered a clear alternative to many of the more clinical-looking products Paige had encountered.
Following her assessment, Paige received her custom-configured Hilo chair in 2017 and has relied on it ever since for daily activities at college, her local day centre, and at home.
Designed Around Paige
As with every Chunc chair, Paige’s Hilo was tailored to meet her individual postural requirements, ensuring she received the support she needed throughout the day.
The chair was also personalised to reflect Paige’s own style, with pink upholstery chosen for the seating, lateral supports and headrest. The result was a chair that not only met her clinical needs but also felt uniquely hers.
Looking Ahead
After years of successful use, Paige’s Hilo chair has supported her through countless daily activities and adventures. More recently, the Chunc team had the pleasure of visiting Paige and her family as she prepares for the next stage of her seating journey.
Funding has now been secured for a custom-made Chunc One, and during the visit, a demo chair was used to confirm measurements and finalise the specification. With everything agreed, production can now begin on a chair designed around Paige’s current needs, comfort and personality.
